Donate a Hand

Important Events

1. Learn the basics on the design of a prosthetic.

2. Trial different materials.

3. Find a handicap person who needs a hand.

4. Measure and validate their need.

5. Design the prosthetic by making estethic  changes and for their needs.

6. Print the prosthetic hand with a 3D Printer.

7. Donate the hand.

Step-by-Step Procedure

- July=I was able to find a mentor who was willing to help me and provide his service.

- October=My mentor completely disregarded my project and lost contact with me.

- November=With the help of Ms. Aguirre, we were able to find another mentor.

- December=I encountered several problems, but I was able to come up with my next steps.

January - I started to learn how to design, only the basics, and I established where I was going to present.

February - I kept working on the design and testing several materials.

March - After test trials and finally finding someone to donate the hand to, based on their needs I scaled, designed, and printed hand a prototype.

April - I changed and improved the prototype and printed the prosthetic for Juan Andres Lopez.

My research and project was presented on March 26, 2015 during Technology Week, "Future Technology."
